How has your team worked together to bring this innovation to life?
At MERACH, innovation is never the work of a single team—it is the result of close collaboration across our R&D, product design, engineering, software, quality control, supply chain, marketing, and customer experience teams. Despite our different areas of expertise, we are united by one shared mission: to enable more people to enjoy the benefits of home fitness and build healthier lifestyles.
That mission guides every step of our product development. We start by understanding real user needs and translating them into thoughtful, science-backed product solutions. From there, our teams work closely together to refine the design, engineering, functionality, and overall experience. Before a product reaches our customers, it goes through rigorous testing, validation, and continuous refinement to ensure that it is not only innovative, but also safe, reliable, durable, and built for long-term use.
For us, bringing innovation to life means more than introducing new technology. It means combining the expertise of every team to create products that genuinely improve the way people exercise at home—and ensuring that every detail ultimately serves one purpose: delivering the best possible experience for our users.
What impact do you anticipate your innovation will have on the tech industry or society at large?
We believe the greatest impact of our innovation will be helping redefine home fitness from an occasional activity into a more accessible, intelligent, and sustainable part of everyday life.
At MERACH, our goal is to build an intelligent home fitness ecosystem that brings together smart fitness equipment, digital technology, interactive content, and data-driven guidance. From a technology perspective, we are focused not simply on adding more features, but on solving a more meaningful challenge: how can technology help people exercise more regularly, scientifically, and safely?
By connecting our equipment with the MERACH App, we extend the fitness experience beyond the hardware itself. Interactive workout content, professional coaching, real-time exercise data, and personalized training guidance are designed to make workouts more engaging while helping users better understand their progress and build consistent exercise habits. In this way, we see technology not as the end goal, but as a tool to make healthy behavior easier to adopt and sustain.
On a broader social level, we believe fitness should not be temporary or dependent on access to a gym, favorable weather, or a complicated schedule. Home fitness removes many of these barriers by bringing exercise directly into people’s everyday living spaces. When fitness equipment is always within reach, staying active can become a natural part of daily life rather than something that requires extra time and planning.
Ultimately, we hope our innovation can contribute to a future where technology makes healthy living more convenient, personalized, and sustainable. By putting user convenience and both physical and mental well-being at the center of our innovation, we aim to empower more people to build healthier habits that last—not just for a few weeks or months, but for life.
Are there any specific challenges you faced during the development process, and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges in developing the NovaRow R50 Pro was finding the right balance between professional-level rowing performance and the practical needs of home users. Air resistance is highly responsive by nature—the harder a user rows, the greater the resistance becomes. However, creating a rowing experience that feels smooth, consistent, and natural across different training intensities requires careful engineering. For the R50 Pro, our team refined the airflow and resistance system around a 32-blade fan design and 10 adjustable resistance levels, with the goal of delivering a dynamic rowing experience that can accommodate both steady endurance workouts and higher-intensity training. At the same time, performance could not come at the expense of usability. Because the R50 Pro is designed for the home, we also had to consider factors such as comfort during longer sessions, user height and weight differences, storage, mobility, and ease of setup. The extended rail, ergonomic seat design, integrated transport wheels, and tool-free storage solution all came from looking at the product not simply as a piece of fitness equipment, but as something that needs to fit naturally into a person’s everyday living environment.
We addressed these challenges through continuous prototyping, testing, user feedback, and cross-functional collaboration. MERACH’s broader R&D approach combines exercise science, biomechanics, product engineering, testing, and quality validation, allowing us to continuously refine both performance and user experience.
Ultimately, the challenge was not to maximize any single specification. It was to bring performance, accessibility, comfort, reliability, and intelligent technology together in one well-balanced home fitness experience.
How does your company foster a culture of innovation?
At MERACH, innovation begins with the user rather than with technology itself. Our mission is to enable more people to enjoy the benefits of home fitness, and that means constantly asking a simple question: What prevents people from exercising consistently, and how can we make that experience better? Our brand values emphasize customer-centricity, continuous self-challenge, and open innovation, and those principles shape the way our teams approach product development.
We also believe meaningful innovation requires both scientific research and real-world application. MERACH has built R&D capabilities spanning exercise physiology, biomechanics, performance rehabilitation, product testing, and workout-program development.
Just as importantly, we encourage collaboration across disciplines. Hardware engineers, industrial designers, software developers, sports science specialists, product managers, and customer-facing teams all bring different perspectives to the same problem.
This allows innovation to happen at multiple levels—from resistance systems and mechanical structures to digital coaching, workout data, interactive content, and the overall experience of using fitness equipment at home.
For us, innovation is not about adding technology simply because we can. It is about continuously finding better ways to make exercise more effective, more accessible, more engaging, and easier to sustain.
What advice would you give to other companies striving to make an impact in the tech space?
Our advice would be to start with a real human problem, not with the technology.
It can be tempting to pursue the newest technology or the most impressive specification, but innovation only becomes meaningful when it creates tangible value for users.
In home fitness, for example, the challenge is not simply building a machine with more features. The bigger challenge is helping someone actually want to use that machine consistently—whether that means making a workout more comfortable, providing clearer performance data, reducing barriers to exercising at home, or making training more engaging.
We would also encourage companies to think beyond individual products. The strongest innovations often come from connecting hardware, software, data, content, and services into a seamless experience.
Finally, innovation requires patience. Great products rarely emerge fully formed. They come from testing, listening, learning, and improving repeatedly. Being willing to challenge your own assumptions—and sometimes redesign something that already works—is essential if you want to create something that truly moves an industry forward.
What are your company’s future goals, and how do you plan to drive advancements in your industry?
Our long-term goal is to make MERACH a global home fitness expert and to continue building an intelligent fitness ecosystem that makes scientific exercise accessible to more people around the world.
We believe the future of home fitness will go far beyond individual pieces of equipment. Hardware will increasingly become part of a connected training environment where equipment, software, exercise data, professional content, and intelligent guidance work together.
MERACH is already building toward that future. Our connected fitness ecosystem combines smart cardio equipment with digital training experiences, workout data, professional coaching, interactive content, and personalized guidance. Our software platform can capture multiple dimensions of workout data—including distance, pace, calories, heart rate, cadence or stroke rate, and resistance—and use that information to help users better understand their exercise.
Products such as the NovaRow R50 Pro represent an important part of this direction. The R50 Pro combines responsive air resistance with performance monitoring, Bluetooth connectivity, offline workouts, and synchronization with the MERACH App, allowing the experience to extend beyond the physical machine itself.
Going forward, we plan to deepen the integration between equipment, data, content, and intelligent coaching, while continuing to invest in sports science and human-centered product development.
Ultimately, our ambition is not simply to put more fitness equipment into people's homes. It is to help transform the home into an intelligent fitness environment—one that understands users better, adapts to their needs, and makes healthier habits easier to build and sustain.
Are there any emerging technologies or trends your company is particularly excited about?
We are particularly excited about the convergence of AI, connected fitness equipment, exercise data, and immersive digital experiences. AI has enormous potential to change home fitness from a relatively standardized experience into something much more personalized. Instead of every user following the same program, we see a future where training guidance can adapt dynamically based on an individual’s goals, workout history, performance, and progress.
Connected equipment is equally important because it provides the bridge between physical exercise and digital intelligence. When a rowing machine, treadmill, or exercise bike can capture meaningful workout data in real time, technology can help users understand not only what they did, but also how their training is evolving over time.
MERACH is already exploring this direction through its connected fitness ecosystem. Our platform combines workout tracking with professional training content and interactive experiences, while our broader software roadmap includes AI-generated training suggestions and personalized programs.
We are also excited about gamification and immersive fitness. Exercise adherence remains one of the biggest challenges in home fitness, and making workouts more interactive, social, and rewarding can help turn exercise from something people feel they “have to do” into something they genuinely look forward to. MERACH has explored this through real-world virtual maps, multiplayer experiences, leaderboards, and connected equipment experiences.
Ultimately, what excites us most is not any single technology. It is the possibility of bringing these technologies together.
We envision a future where your fitness equipment can understand how you train, track your progress, provide intelligent guidance, connect you with engaging content and communities, and continuously adapt to help you achieve your goals. That is the future we believe home fitness is moving toward—and the future MERACH wants to help build.
