Our submission centered on TalkingParents as a purpose-built co-parenting communication platform that weaves together three vital aspects: an all-in-one platform for better communication, accountability through unalterable records, and safety through privacy-first design. The platform brings nine integrated tools into a single service, including Secure Messaging, Accountable Calling℠ (the first recorded calling feature in any co-parenting app), Shared Calendar, Accountable Payments℠, Info Library, and our AI-powered Sentiment Scanner + Writing Assist℠, which helps parents improve the tone of their messages before they send them, not after conflict has already escalated. Everything is underpinned by our Unalterable Records, which are protected by digital signatures, unique 16-digit authentication codes, and Entrust Timestamp Authority™ verification, making them tamper-proof and court-admissible. And because many families often come to TalkingParents during high-conflict or unsafe situations, the platform is designed so co-parents can communicate and coordinate without ever sharing personal phone numbers, email addresses, banking information, or physical addresses, keeping sensitive details protected by default.

3. How has your team worked together to bring this innovation to life?

TalkingParents was born from a real-world need. Our founder, Stephen Nixon, was a family law attorney who saw firsthand how high-conflict communication between co-parents could harm children and complicate legal proceedings. That insight led to the first version of TalkingParents, delivering a platform designed to create a secure, unalterable record of co-parenting communication. Over the past 15 years, we've continually evolved to meet the needs of the co-parenting community. What started as a messaging documentation tool has grown into a comprehensive support network that includes nine integrated communication and coordination features, educational resources, live webinars, and a dedicated platform for legal professionals. That evolution has been driven by a team that consistently leverages and integrates technology where it makes a measurable difference for parents: from moving to fully native mobile apps built in Swift and Kotlin, to implementing AI-powered sentiment analysis, to building cryptographically verified records infrastructure. Every advancement has been a collaborative effort across engineering, product, design, and our support team, all united by a shared commitment to the families we serve.

4. What impact do you anticipate your innovation will have on the tech industry or society at large?

From the beginning, we recognized that co-parenting communication exists at the intersection of technology, law, and human psychology, and that serving this community well required a careful, purpose-driven approach. We didn't retrofit generic messaging tools; we built infrastructure specifically designed for permanence, accountability, and emotional safety. 5. Are there any specific challenges you faced during the development process, and how did you overcome them?

When TalkingParents launched in 2011, we faced the same challenge every startup does: proving that a purpose-built tool could gain traction in a space where most people default to text messages and email. But we also faced challenges unique to our category. Building documentation infrastructure that meets evidentiary standards across diverse legal jurisdictions was a significant technical and legal hurdle. The platform had to simultaneously protect user privacy while maintaining complete transparency of communication for accountability purposes. And because the platform serves a wide spectrum of co-parenting dynamics, our security architecture had to account for attempts to manipulate, fabricate, or dispute records from the very beginning. We overcame these challenges through bootstrapped, word-of-mouth growth rather than venture capital, which gave us the freedom to build the right way rather than the fast way. Since those early days, the company has maintained its infrastructure through proactive, deliberate actions: transitioning to native mobile development, investing in cryptographic verification technology, and continually strengthening our security posture to ensure the platform remains the reliable, trusted tool that co-parents and courts depend on.

Our CEO Vince Mayfield often says that great companies aren't built by accident, they're forged by values, grit, and relentless leadership that turns talent into purpose. Based on his experience building technology companies for over 25 years, here's what we'd share: First, model ownership thinking. Culture starts at the top, and when leaders take accountability for outcomes rather than pointing fingers, it becomes contagious throughout the organization. Second, execute relentlessly. Have a bias toward action and empower your teams to do the same. We built TalkingParents from the ground up with clear goals, disciplined execution, and trust in our people. Third, never stop learning. The tech landscape shifts constantly, and companies that grow complacent get left behind. Invest in your people's growth, and it pays dividends for both the individual and the business. And finally, stay connected to the people you serve. If you're building something that matters, the community using it should be your compass. Their needs, frustrations, and aspirations should inform every decision you make. Technology is a tool. 8. What are your company’s future goals, and how do you plan to drive advancements in your industry?

The app is what everything at TalkingParents is built around, and it will continue to be. But equally important is our commitment to growing a support network that families can turn to for help at every stage of their co-parenting journey. We've already expanded beyond communication tools into parenting resources, live webinars with family and legal professionals, high-conflict workshops, and a dedicated platform for the legal community, and that's just the beginning.
